Every so often, when Mum has either finished her work, is avoiding her work, or has lost the ability to think coherently (Ed: that last one isn’t uncommon), we’ll escape for a mid-afternoon jaunt, as we did yesterday, when it was too hot to think, basically. We wandered down to the Water of Leith (stopping off at our local
pet shop healthy food shop for me on the way, naturally) and found a quiet bench on which to rest our paws. We’ll sit there, listening to the river, and we don’t even have to talk. These simple moments together can be the best.
